Drawn Together at Emeryville Film Festival

Drawn Together premiered at the Emeryville Film Festival to a sold-out crowd on March 21, 2026.

It was my first time seeing the film on a big screen which brings its own flutter of butterflies. The film screened as part of a block of local shorts, and I have to say, the Bay Area film community is very much alive and kicking. The films were jaw-dropping across the board. I’m fairly certain a few bugs flew into my mouth because I was sitting there in a constant state of awe.

In fact, my wife’s favorite film of the night wasn’t Drawn Together. It was Ornamental Horticulture by Sam Hyatt. She could not stop talking about it. I think her exact words were “You should make movies like that.” And honestly, fair.

Huge shout out to Sean Wells of Roast N Post for curating such a thoughtful lineup and creating a space where these stories could land with an audience that truly showed up. Great films, a full house, and a reminder that making things and sharing them still matters.

We’ll keep you posted on future screenings! Here are some BTS pics from the event. What do I do with my hands?
